THE PROJECT
Create More Capacity Without Closing Off the Workplace
The client needed to accommodate additional employees while transforming an office that felt enclosed and underutilized.
Tall workstation panels visually divided the existing space and made the office feel more closed off than necessary. The client wanted a more open environment but still needed functional individual work areas, adequate storage, separation between employees, and five designated manager offices.
The furniture plan also needed to maximize the available square footage across four separate areas. Rather than simply replacing the existing cubicles, COFI needed to develop a layout that improved capacity and openness while supporting the operational requirements of each area.
Coordinate the Furniture Project Around an Active Renovation
The furniture transformation was taking place alongside a larger office remodel, making timing and trade coordination a central part of the project.
Furniture removal, electrical work, delivery, and installation had to be coordinated with the client, electrician, construction activity, and the readiness of each project area.
Because the four areas became available at different times, the project could not be installed all at once. COFI needed to organize the furniture work into phases while also coordinating a package that included new, refurbished, and pre-owned products.
The finished environment still needed to feel cohesive even though different furniture categories, manufacturers, components, and finish processes were being used throughout the project.
THE COFI APPROACH
One Coordinated Plan Across Four Areas
COFI managed the furniture process from field measurements and space planning through product selection, refurbishment, procurement, removal, trade coordination, phased installation, and final walkthrough.
01 — EVALUATE & PLAN
Understand the Space
COFI began with an on-site evaluation and detailed field measurements of all four project areas. Using those dimensions, our team developed space plans, furniture layouts, and 3D renderings to determine how the available square footage could support 43 workstations and five manager offices. COFI collaborated with the client throughout design development, revising layouts and reviewing options around capacity, circulation, storage, workstation dimensions, manager offices, and the functional needs of each area.
02 — REFURBISH & SPECIFY
Build the Hybrid Furniture Solution
COFI developed a hybrid furniture package combining new, refurbished, and pre-owned commercial furniture. Refurbished Haworth Unigroup systems formed the primary workstation solution. Trim and components were repainted, panel fabrics were reupholstered, and pre-owned worksurfaces were incorporated where appropriate. Glass add-ons created separation without returning to the previous tall-panel environment, while overhead cabinets provided storage. New Premiera casegoods were selected for the manager offices and coordinated with the finishes used throughout the refurbished workstation system.
03 — COORDINATE & INSTALL
Deliver the Project in Phases
COFI coordinated existing-furniture removal, electrical requirements, delivery, and installation with the client, electrician, and other trades involved in the office renovation. As each area became ready, COFI scheduled and completed that phase of the furniture installation. This allowed the furniture work to progress alongside the broader renovation without requiring the entire facility to be available at the same time.
INSIDE THE PROJECT
More Capacity Within the Same Workplace

THE OUTCOME
A More Open and Space-Efficient Workplace
The completed project replaced the previous enclosed workstation environment with a more open, modern, and efficiently planned workplace while accommodating the required employee capacity across all four areas.
43 Workstations Across Four Areas
The revised furniture layouts made better use of the available square footage and accommodated 43 employee workstations across four separate project areas.
Five Dedicated Manager Offices
Five manager offices were incorporated into the largest project area and furnished with new Premiera casegoods coordinated with the surrounding workstation finishes.
One Cohesive Hybrid Solution
Refurbished Haworth Unigroup systems, pre-owned worksurfaces, glass add-ons, overhead storage, updated finishes, and new casegoods were brought together as one coordinated furniture package.
Installation Aligned With Renovation
Phased delivery and installation allowed the furniture project to progress as individual areas became available during the client’s ongoing office renovation.
